New Recording. Just out by one of the most talked-about new female voices in the city is the self-produced debut CD, Linnzi Zaorski & Delta Royale. The attractive Ms. Zaorski has a remarkably mature voice for a twenty- something. Her phrasing brings Billie Holiday to mind, but she projects like an Ethel Merman. Recorded live (in part) at the Spotted Cat, where she frequently performs, the program includes a nice selection of Tin Pan Alley standards (as well as Shearing's "Lullaby of Birdland"). Zaorski is ably backed by a quartet consisting of veteran Charlie Fardela, trumpet; Ryan Burrage, reeds; Seva Venet, guitar; andRobert Snow, bass. There's plenty of solo space for the horns, and Fardela and Burragedistinguish themselves with some very tasteful playing. This is a real swinging session. Zaorski has a distinctive new voice that deserves to be heard more widely (and most certainly will be in coming months). She appeared at the Spotted Cat on New Year's Eve.
